It might help to know why... as the song says, my son latched on to a kitten from a litter of a neighborhood malnurished stray that the animal control shelter picked up the rest of including the mother cat..  the kitten wasn't weined yet, so the family is having to bottle feed it and care of it..  when ever we give her a bottle, her little ears flap a hundred miles a minute like Yoda's in starwars.. and since the kitten is a female, we call her &quot;Yodi&quot; the fem version of Yoda... there ya have it...   here's the lyrics for you...</description>

This is the almost final version of a song I uploaded earlier under the title 'acting different' but I've decided it should be Calling Time.

Previous criticisms were that the bass and drums didnt have enough clarity, so both have been boosted in the mix.

Also, people said that James didnt have enough oomph in his delivery. Well he has really gone for it this time!

We've changed the melodies a little, namely the chorus and the addition of a quite emo-esque multi-vocal bridge.

I really like this version but if you have any criticisms please let us know because we are so close!

Also here are James' lyrics because I think they are awesome!!!

I have since re-recorded it a couple times (added a verse, changed the pitch, etc). The chorus came to me in a dream...(I saw an old jazz or blues singer singing it) and decided to try to make a song around the chorus (probably not the best way to do it). I haven't made an attempt to produce it very well....maybe I will. I'm uploading it because a couple friends urged me to do so (do I sound non-committal enough?) Anyway, this helped me learn allot about the process (Man it took ALL DAY to figure out how to get it out of my hard-disc recorder and onto this site....how do you guys do this?). Anyway, here's a first offering.....I have other songs in the works....</description>

A completely improvised-on-the-spot recording with a friend who is a genius sound engineer who I hadn't jammed with in over a year.  Two layers in two takes.  We recorded in a basement in his house--considering the location and the equipment we used, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Each layer is actually three tracks--I play a semi-acoustic here that was miked at the headstock and by the bridge, as well as the sound from direct-input.  There is some reverb on the tracks as well as a overdrive filter applied to the lead layer.

Played on a Gretsch G6040MCSS Synchromatic Cutaway with two SM57's mixed with Fruity Loops.

Comment on the break in the middle. Weird? My friend suggested it, and i haven't really come up with anything better. It seems to fit, in a weird sort of way!

I got a little heavy on the vocal delay,
needs some layered keys.
Don't like the snare sound at all
drum mix is off some 
would change the vocal harmonies, drop more vocal lines down below the lead vox.

Any way it's another songI wrote. 
We recorded thru a yamaha 02R digital board into an old mac pc,with motu a/d converters and digital performer software.</description>
